Our mission is to connect individuals to their community using place-based climate education as the central hub, thereby building confidence in climate literacy and ultimately leading to daily net zero action. Our ambition is to create a space for both seasoned and fledgling naturalists to develop imaginative solutions for their hyperlocal ecosystems. We cultivate the community to be the main actors of change. Therein, we fuel conversation where the bulb blooms and beyond.
We believe we should not continue to only be victims of climate change, but encourage our communities to find the source of their own well of powerful solutions. No doom. Just practical ideas, good people, and a little hope. The Bloom Bulb isn’t simply a building containing climate exhibits and data. It’s an example of carbonless construction materials and future proofing our environments through responsible use of materials. The architecture, sensory experience, interactions, and visitor journey embodies our ecological, societal and human values.
Inspired by nature’s ability to generate without waste, the Bulb mimics the natural cycle of a seed — this is how it will travel and empower new communities to envision a better future.
After an interactive bloom stage, the electronics and any other non-biodegradable materials are removed, to be used again, and the structure becomes a living part of the community - as a garden, cooling center, or whatever the community decides. The shell continues to live on and decay naturally, back into the earth, as a beneficial carbon sink and as a living reminder to take care of the bulb, and in-turn, the globe.
